CBS brings the real Star Trek back as online-only “TV show”

It’s CBS but not as we know it. The US television network will beam its newest instalment of Star Trek online as it looks to boost viewership on its digital streaming service.

The new science fiction series is the seventh TV instalment of the nearly 50-year-old franchise, but it is the first show the US network has developed specifically for CBS All Access, the online service launched last year.
